Be SALT & LIGHT
In a world that often feels heavy, divided, or uncertain, Jesus gives His followers a clear and hopeful calling: to live as light. In Book of Matthew 5:16 (NIV), He says:
This verse is not only a personal instruction. It is also a shared responsibility. We are not meant to shine alone. We are called to support one another so that together we reflect God’s light into the world around us.
Salt and Light Are Meant to Be Shared
Earlier in Matthew 5, Jesus describes His followers as the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Salt enhances flavor and helps preserve what would otherwise spoil. Light brings clarity, warmth, and direction where darkness exists. These are simple elements, yet they have the power to transform what they touch.
In the same way, our faith becomes more visible and impactful when we walk alongside others who encourage, challenge, and strengthen us. Community helps us live out what Jesus teaches.
Supporting One Another in Daily Faith
Living as salt and light does not always require grand or public acts. Often, it shows up in quiet moments. Choosing kindness when it is difficult, offering grace when patience is thin, or holding onto hope when circumstances feel overwhelming all reflect Christ’s light.
When we support one another in these everyday choices, we create space for faith to grow. A word of encouragement, a prayer, or an act of service can become a powerful testimony when it is done in love and unity.
Letting God Be Glorified
Jesus makes the purpose clear. Our light is meant to point beyond ourselves. When others see our good deeds, the result should be glory given to God, not to us. A community grounded in love, humility, and service becomes a living witness that speaks louder than words.
Supporting each other in living as salt and light ensures that our lives reflect hope, compassion, and Christ-centered faith.
Walking Forward Together
As we go about our daily lives, may we be intentional about lifting one another up. Let us choose to be a community that shines, not because we are perfect, but because we are committed to walking in faith together. When we support one another in living out Christ’s call, our collective light becomes something the world cannot ignore.
And through it all, God is glorified.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
